Route 66 Wineries

Shale Lake Winery

David and Susan Wesa purchased the 212 acre property now known as Shale Lake and have transformed it into a full winery, “heavy appetizers” shop,  horse stables, small cabins and cottages, and a wine trail that you can rent surrey bicycles and leads to a Shale Lake that many enjoy for fishing. Shale Lake Winery also boasts a tasting room with a heated wine garden overlooking the 14-acre vineyard, a cozy winter loft, outdoor patio grove,  and picnic areas.  David and Susan ensure that all of their wine is made in Illinois and 100% produced from their winery.
