Preston Garrison has been active as a wildlife and travel photographer for many years. From 1991 until 2004, he worked
as a contract wildlife and travel photographer for the Barker Group, traveling in over 20 countries and completing photography projects for national tourism boards in developing countries to help promote the ecotourism industry in their countries.
His many wildlife photography projects have included a traditional African safari, polar bears at Churchill, Manitoba on the Hudson Bay, harp seal pups on the Gulf of St. Lawrence pack ice, Torre del Pine National Park in southern Chile, wildlife rescue projects in the central Andes of Ecuador, Yellowstone in winter, and Brown Bears in Katmai National Park, Alaska. He has guided photography trips in Ecuador, Costa Rica, and Morocco.
His work has been exhibited and sold in many national and regional wildlife art and photography shows in the United States, including the Easton MD Waterfowl Festival, the Southeastern Wildlife Art Exposition (Charleston SC), the Wings & Water Festival (Cape May, NJ), and the Plantation Wildlife Art Festival (Thomasville GA), and have been published in textbooks, tourism promotion materials, and periodicals, including Ocean Realm and the PSA Journal.
Along with his wife, Susan, and faithful Sheltie, Sparky, he has made RV trips from his home on the St. Johns River at Astor FL to Big Bend National Park, the Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Utah’s Four Corners, the Badlands and Mount Rushmore,Yellowstone National Park, and Canada’s Maritime Provinces. They will be leaving Astor on April 14 for the “RVers’ ultimate road trip odyssey” across Canada to the Yukon and Alaska.
