Bob and Betty Hickey have been criss-crossing the United States for the last two years in a 29’ Winnebago Minnie, dubbed “Gulliver.” Betty retired from her second career of teaching High School science to travel with Bob and the FIDS (furry and feather kids). Gulliver has been called the Ark by some, because they travel with a dog, a cat and three birds.
Betty was born into a military family who traveled extensively. She joined the Navy and enjoyed the adventure for more than 20 years. It was during that time she met her husband Bob who shared her love of travel. They enjoyed ‘arduous’ tours of duty in Hawaii, Bahamas and the Caribbean. They lived aboard the first “Gulliver,” a 36’ sloop for almost 8 years.
“Traveling in a motorhome has enabled me to combine my love of adventure, life-long learning, and space for my many hobbies. I love to quilt, knit and read. Bob and I really enjoy exploring the back roads and sharing our experience with family and friends.”
