Cleveland Browns Stadium may have a new name (FirstEnergy Stadium) for the 2013 season, but this NFL stadium is home to some of the most loyal fans in the league as well as some of the best tailgaters. The stadium, located in downtown at the edge of Lake Erie, seats around 81,000 spectators for football games.
Tailgating at FirstEnergy Stadium
The Cleveland Municipal Parking Lot, located just east of the stadium, is favorite of fans who like to tailgate. The 2,000-space, open-air lot opens at 7:00 a.m. on game days and stays open until two hours after the completion of the game. The lot is just a short walk to the stadium and offers a limited number of spaces for RVs.
RV parks near Cleveland Stadium
Because Cleveland Stadium is located in the heart of downtown, there are no RV resorts within walking distance of the stadium. However, there are a couple of seasonal RV parks with easy access to downtown. Willow Lake Park, located about 30 minutes south of the NFL football stadium on I-71, is a 40-site resort with water and electric hook-ups open through the end of October. In addition, there is a KOA campground in Streetsboro, which is just off of I-480, about 40 minutes away from First Energy Stadium. This wooded resort is open until mid-October.
Tailgating is an integral part of attending any Cleveland Browns football game. Be sure to leave early to allow for plenty of revelry before kick-off.
