Guide to RV Tailgating at the Chicago Bears Soldier Field

Chicago’s Soldier Field originally opened in 1924 under the name Grant Park Municipal Stadium. Fully renovated in 2003, Soldier Field is the Windy City’s premier NFL stadium and home to the Chicago Bears football team. During the NFL football season, more than 61,000 fans can find seats to cheer “Da Bears.” Fans planning to tailgate before games have ample room as well.

At Chicago Bears Soldier Field, RV tailgaters have several areas to enjoy a pregame party.

Guaranteed parking, private parking, cash lots and street parking areas offer RV tailgaters several areas for enjoying a pregame party. Tailgaters for Bears games can purchase parking passes for guaranteed parking in the South Lot or Waldron Deck. The surface lots and upper level of the Deck allow tailgating—these lots open four hours before kickoff and close two hours after the final whistle.

For a more exclusive tailgating experience, fans can purchase a private party area on the western corner of the Adler Planetarium. Private party tailgating fees include access to the tailgating area five hours before kickoff, two porta-potties, two security guards and two parking spots for passenger vehicles such as buses. Because of Soldier Field’s lakeside location, there are no RV parks in the immediate area.

Four cash lots also are available for fans attending Bears games and other events at Soldier Field. These lots include the Thirty-first Street parking lot, Adler Planetarium, Field Museum parking and the Burnham Harbor lot. Fees vary by lot and by vehicle, RV and bus fees are higher than cars. RVtailgaters are welcome in any of the four cash lots—arrive early, about four to five hours before kickoff in order to secure a good spot for your tailgating party.

Some street parking can be found around Soldier Field, managed by Standard Parking. However, alcohol is not allowed on any of the parklands.
