The Georgia Dome is the home field for both the Georgia State Panthers and Atlanta Falcons. On top of being a world-class NFL stadium, it is also located just a few minutes’ walk northwest of beautiful downtown Atlanta.
RV Tailgating at the Georgia Dome
The Georgia Dome allows a limited amount of RV parking for tailgating. The best place within close proximity to the dome is the Yellow Lot, in which tailgaters can park for $80. Though it may be a bit expensive for a first-come first-serve lot, it is rather large, and it is definitely where the biggest tailgating section is. Another perk is that, whether coming for an NFL football or college game, tailgaters can arrive to begin partying five hours before kickoff. That’s a lot of time to tailgate!
Though the Yellow Lot is one of the biggest parties in Atlanta every Sunday in the fall, there are some guidelines that every visitor should know about. Here are some highlights:
Tents cannot exceed 8’ x 10’.
You must maintain a 14’ drive aisle between rows.
Any grassy areas adjacent to the parking lots are considered “common ground.”
Tailgaters must wrap up their festivities two hours after the last down.
RV Tailgating Nearby the Georgia Dome
There are several parking lots within walking distance of the Georgia Dome, but most of them do not allow RVs. As this is a downtown area with not a lot of room to offer for parking, the Yellow Lot is recommended. However, if this lot fills up, the closest option is the Marshalling Yard, which is also $80.
Where to Stay After the Game
The Georgia Dome is located in the middle of the city of Atlanta; consequently, there are not very many RV parks close by. The good news is that once you get on the highway, you’re less than 25 miles away from the beautiful Atlanta South RV Resort, in McDonough. It is one of the closest options, which, given how tranquil the scenery is, may come as a big surprise.
