Former Bus Converted into Night Shelter for Homeless

Gareth Brenland of the of the Tiffers Bus Shelter in Ipswich, England explains that in November of 2016 he simply started out by driving around handing out sleeping bags and warm clothes. After speaking to some of the rough sleepers in the community he decided they needed to do more. Gareth and volunteers, along with a group of crowdfunders, raised about £25,000 (roughly $35,500) to renovate the bus with Gareth doing most of the renovations and restorations. The 14 beds are allocated to guests after referrals from local agencies and the bus also houses a “chill” area with seating, a kitchen, and log warmer. It is named after Gareth’s 15 year old daughter Tiffani, who is just as dedicated to the project as her parents.
