Have you ever been hiking and wondered what kind of trees you are looking at? There’s an app for that! Leafsnap was developed by researchers from Columbia University, University of Maryland, and the Smithsonian Institution. With this app, all you have to do is take a picture of a leaf and it will use its visual recognition software to identify exactly what type of tree it came from. It can even identify seeds, fruits, flowers, barks, and more!
